We chose the most durable polycarbonate formulation we could find for the plastic parts. We have run over this holder mulitple times with the owner's 4 wheel drive truck and it hasn't broken. To make sure our plastic parts are always true to spec, they are molded on an American made tool in Florida. We chose a US tooling company that creates tools used in the medical industry to be sure we have precision tolerance, not some Chinese tool with poor tolerance shipped to the US. And those spring clips - they're true stainless steel. They won't rust like the nickel plated steel you would find on lessor quality products. Time and Field Tested - Lessons Learned You learn a lot over years of actual real world testing. Well over a decade of experience is incorporated into our holders. Just to give you an idea of lessons learned, we relay this tale. In the early years of the Classic, those spring clips you see were held on with only one retention hole. It seemed to work well, that is until an energetic safety-minded NASA engineer got a hold of it in his lab. He found that with the right maneuver you could turn our badge holder into a spring clip launcher. Well, that is apparently neither funny nor safe to a NASA engineer. He even made a video. And we were suddenly famous... famously embarassed. We immediately went back to the drawing board and redesigned our spring clip and retooled our parts.
