I'm currently in a twisted FWB relationship with a guy who's in another committed relationship (I know...don't judge). I am a converted Catholic and since my divorce, I've been in an emotional whirlwind. Long story short, the suggestion for this book came from my Lent devotion for the day from Matthew Kelly. I took it as a sign from God and bought it. Now as for the book:If you are sexually adventurous / okay with you're sexually active relationships, you're going to hate this book!I started reading and right away I felt attacked for wanting to explore my promiscuity. I am going through a "Prodigal Son" phase right now, but I know that right now I don't want a committed relationship because my divorced caused me so much pain and trauma. However, this guy that I'm "friends" with, I really like and we can talk all day/every day but i can feel the stress and strain of us not being an actual relationship.The book is one giant lecture on chastity. "Keep your legs closed and hopefully you'll find a man that respects that". The End.NOW...I will admit that the book has shaken me from my sinful slumber and I want to re-learn how to respect myself and my body again as a woman of Christ, however if you're not ready for this book's hard message then I would suggest you only purchase it if you are. Unfortunately we live in "hook up" culture, this book was written over 10 years ago. It's a hard pill to swallow, but I would pass this book on to my daughter when she gets older. It speaks from the Christian heart and the writers do want you to find someone that WANTS you for you and not just for sex. However, it's wrong, just plain wrong "smooth criminal" "troubled youth" "age difference" as reasons for girls to run!? Insane. People overcome hardship and can withstand adversity when they do, guys that don't pursue a girl but give in aren't bad and if you have an issue then talk with him, and just because there's some years between you doesn't mean you aren't soulmates! The fact that these parts even made it to print shows the author's inept understanding of humanity as they try to thump the reader. I agree that all of us need to do better to treat each other with virtues, but this book starts downright judgmental and when taken to heart doesn't lead to better communication but to breakups. Bad form.
