2014 the Summit model is the top of the line in air purification, cleansing the air of 99.9 percent of all airborne pollutants. Our advanced carbon and pco filter, along with our triple anion, boosts the 7-stages of filtration. Our exclusive ozone timer, you to choose the length of time you wish to run the ozone feature – when the time is up, only the ozone shuts-off, allowing the Summit plus air purifier to continue to run. The pre-filter traps the larger particles such as dirt, dust, and debris. The hospital-grade washable hepa filter with a 99.3 percent filtration rate can capture particulate down to .3 microns which include microorganisms, bacteria, mold, and viruses. The dual ultraviolet lamps Sterilization stage mimics the sun's sanitization properties. Artificial UV energy has proven to be 1, 600 times more effective than the Sterilization effect of the sun in killing viruses and bacteria, mold spores, mildew bacteria, and other airborne antigens and pathogens. The advanced photo-catalytic filter has a greater surface area to oxidize toxic fumes and decomposes odorous substances into odorless carbon dioxide and water. It also removes airborne bacteria and deactivates viruses. The advanced carbon filter is twice the width of a standard carbon infused foam filter and more effectively absorbs bad smells, odors, smoke, Perfumes, etc. From the air.

Was more Than I Expected-Now trash
I was aware of commercial cleaning companies using Ozone to clear the smell from smoke damage, but did not know what to expect from a small unit such as this one. I have to say that it is quite an amazing piece of equipment. We live in a 110+ year old house which means that there is plenty of dust to keep makers of Pledge happy. Dusting at least once a week was not an option, but mandatory. With the ionization feature on, we let the dusting go just to see if that plus the filtering really works. It does. We have a glass top coffee table that serves as a 'time to dust' indicator. We actually passed 3 weeks with little noticeable dust on it. This was after running it for a couple of weeks to give it a chance to clear the air. Now this is going to sound silly if not stupid, but the air feels softer. The only explanation I can give is it is probably due to the lack of dust particles.UPDATE: The blower motor froze up and the display is bad. I will have had it 3 years Jan 2016. I contacted the company, they gave me a 'try' to see if the motor on the blower could be made functional to prevent having to send it to the MFR. for repair. The repair was simple, remove the blade, put a little WD-40 around the shaft and turn it. I let it set for abound an hour as instructed, put it all back together and it works perfect except for the display. It is very dim so with the lights out, I can set it up the way I want it. I'm happy. Excellent support.

The best air purifier around!
This purifier has met and exceeded my expectations! I have a son who has a tracheotomy and has had his left lung removed. Because of his respiratory needs this unit has met and exceeded our needs for his over all health. Not only his health has been improved but we have found the rest of our family has been enhanced health wise as well. I would recommend this product to everyone who has health needs or those who just want to have a better way to breathe. This is an awesome unit and is all that the manufacturer has said it would be. Thanks Rocky Mountain Air you are the bomb.

It Works. I have had less allergies and Sinus trouble.
I have had fewer sinus infections and allergies have improved since we bought this. It is quiet and has many great features that can be used singularly or all at once. It is quiet. It has several easy to clean filters. It has the ozone purifier which can be used to sanitize a room or run on low all the time. It has the ionizer that makes the dust particles stick together and fall from the air which makes more dusting BUT means you don't breathe in tiny dust particles. It is advertized to use "a 7-stage filtration system. A hospital grade washable HEPA filter with a 99.3-Percent filtration rate can capture microorganisms, bacteria, mold, and viruses below .3 microscopic particles. The UV2 ultraviolet sterilization stage mimics the sun's sanitization properties. Artificial UV energy has proven to be 1,600 times more effective than the sterilization effect of the sun in killing viruses and bacteria, mold spores, mildew bacteria, and other airborne antigens and pathogens. The photo-catalytic filter oxidizes toxic fumes and decomposes odorous substances into odorless carbon dioxide and water. It also removes airborne bacteria and deactivates viruses. The activated carbon filter effectively removes bad smells, odors, smoke, etc." and it seems to do all that it says. I like that it can be adjusted so I can run the ozone in a closed room to move mold or sanitize and deoderize without having to run the ozone all the time. I can also run it on low where it is barely noticeable when I need to.

One month makes a difference
I'm writing this review because Amazon sent their usual request for one. Basically, I can say the Rocky Mountain Air (RMA3500-CHO) makes a difference but one month of use is not really enough time before reviewing. That's because the matter of filter life and durability of the machine are factors we should include.I also believe that consumer/users of air purifiers deserve better information from manufacturers and retailers. The advertising is mostly pseudoscience and that applies to all makes. Also, there's no organization with a comprehensive evaluation system for air purifiers and that includes Consumer Reports.CR has not even reviewed this make and model of air purifier. They do have information on the Whirlpool Whispure Air Purifier HEPA Air Cleaner which they give their highest rating. But Whirlpool has sold the right to use its name to another manufacturer and it's that manufacturer (using the Whirlpool name) which makes the Whispure Air Purifier. The practice of name sharing should be banned. For prospective buyers: note that I'm trying to be honest. My own evaluation after one month is mostly subjective. It's not scientific. And my subjective opinion is that this Rocky Mountain air purifier is effectively improving air quality in my small apartment. IN this small apartment, there exists two main air quality problems: cigarette smoke and dust. Particularly with the smoke, I can no longer see "smoke haze" and the air is just "nicer to breath." The dust I'm less certain about because I didn't set up a clean test area when I started running this air purifier. Obviously though -anything which moves air through any kind of filter will catch dust. Visually - I'm pretty sure I see less dust in the air and on flat surfaces like table and shelf tops.Defect: This unit was easy to set up (provided you're awake and follow the directions which are simple). But - the unit I got has a defect which is that the power cord MUST be kept absolutely still or there's no power going to the unit. If the power cord is jiggled or even moved slightly - the power is cut off. Maybe this is shipping damage but the unit was packed securely in two cartons with foam plastic shock absorbers. It DOES WORK but I have to avoid any kind of strain on or movement of the power cord.It runs quietly even on the highest fan setting. Within minutes of turning it on, I could smell the difference. i have emphysema and this unit seems to help me breath easier. But - I must say what Consumer Reports says about air purifiers: you can add to the effectiveness of any air purifier if you run ceiling vent fans (typically they're located in the bathrooms and kitchens ) and use your vacuum cleaner regularly."7-Stage" air purifier? I'm not sure about that but the electrostatic plate (air purifier) does work on tobacco smoke and other fine particles. The provided manual is right about this: you do not want to run the "anion" feature for long periods because it creates ozone. Ozone is a known irritant and can even create electrostatic discharge hazards at high levels. I turn on the "anion" feature for just a few minutes, a couple times per day - no problems from that.Price point: if you survey the cost range of air purifiers, you'll find few-to-none worth buying under $300. Cost of use (so far) seems reasonable. My electric bill was no higher than average during the first month of use. Can't say anything about filter life because my unit has been running only one month.

works well
it works great for my 1200 sq ft home. I have it in the basement and you can even see the difference upstairs. it does just as it says it will. It pulls the dust out of the air and cases it to fall on the ground. I have a wood/coal stove which can be very messy. the day I put it in there was dust/ash floating everywhere, within the first half an hour there was very little dust floating in the air even with a fan on. so long as you continue to clean the elements as they suggest you will get a long life out of your machine.
