It was over 20 years old and just was worn out. I was amazed of the performance of the new cooktop, and the price couldn't be better. Only one note, the new cooktop did not come with a regulator and I had read mixed reviews regarding whether a regulator was required. I didn't want to take a chance that there would be flame-ups because of the variance in gas supply, so I installed the old regulator in-line from the old cook top and got lucky that it must have been compatible with the new cook top. It functioned just fine. I did not reduce my rating because it was my ignorance just assuming that a regulator would come with it because I have installed many cooktops over the years and this was the first time a regulator was not included. Feel free to respond to this review if you had purchased this item and did not use a regulator in-line. I am curious to hear the results.
