The smaller diameter base and narrower angled sides prevent spreading of the dough during the final proof, resulting in taller loaves. I prefer this to other popular wood pulp baskets such as the ones from Bulka. Not to dis Bulka, it's a high quality product, but it and many others have wide bases that give wide flat loaves. Both the Brod & Taylor and Bulka absorbed just the right amount of moisture during the final proof and, with a light dusting of rice flour, released perfectly. I wish I would have found this a long time ago - Highly recommended! Also, a very reasonable price.

Great design! The smaller diameter base and narrower angled sides prevent spreading of the dough during the final proof, resulting in taller loaves. Dough doesn’t stick. Perfect size and shape. Excellent quality and reasonably priced. Prefer them over the wood style and the over priced pulp style bannetons. My crust turns out better when I prove my dough overnight in the fridge in these too.
