Those strings on by uke are like knife edges to my fingertips. I played a guitar 45 years ago, and the steel strings didn't bother me. But these uke strings, though not steel, are threatening men with mayhem. So I recalled that one of my brothers had a uke when he was young -- back in the days of Arthur Godfrey talent show -- and it came with one of these gadgets attached to the fret stem. It may be limiting but to what? With it I can play over 100 songs, way more than I'll ever learn to play.
Review: Put on a Watermen Uke - I placed it on a Watermen soprano for my 6 year old Granddaughter. She like it but uses it as player and not able to read the book that comes with it. It Is good to give her a chance to learn to strum and play eight cords and later I hope she may take it more seriously. A great way to get them started, I recommend it for Your young ones.

A funny thing happened to me on the way to getting old -- my skin, already more sensitive, even where it is number, thanks to neuropathy, got thinner, so I cut more easily. Those strings on by uke are like knife edges to my fingertips. I played a guitar 45 years ago, and the steel strings didn't bother me.
