The flint is hard to hold and constantly rotates in your hand when attempting to strike. The ribs really do not help with anything besides making tinder out of the material. The direction of which you're trying to strike to ignite whatever you're trying to catch fire is completely random. I use this in an automotive application for igniting tire glue to create a secure patch and I lay out a bunch of glue in a circular pattern. My last necklace I could light it in one of two strikes. I have to sit here and strike it for a good 30 seconds before it I even get spark(after shaving the finish down) and then from there the glue is dried up, so I got to reapply it and then I can't even hit the glue because the spark doesn't reach unless I put it right on top and burn my hands! Save your money and spend the extra $10 on a real product, not this one! I woke up the other day and the necklace literally came undone!
