I find you have to spice it a lot, and not just add the spices to the water when cooking it, as it does not pick up the taste very well. I mix this with lemon juice, dried mint, fresh crushed garlick and mix it with some raw rice, and make it into meatballs. I put the same spices into the water and you get a wonderful Greek style porcupine balls recipe. I also use the above mixture to stuff grape leaves and scooped zucchini squash. Great for meatballs in tomato sauce, shepherds pie and anything else you want to make of it. My kids love all the recipes I use this with. Review: Decent meat replacement. Will buy again. - It's not "amazing"...but it is a decent substitute to make a burger. Doesn't have the "beany" aftertaste that some veggie burgers have. It LOOKS just like ground beef when cooked, too. Browns well. But, I can't stand the taste of soy, if I liked it this would be a winner. (Odd, because I like Lightlife's Smart Italian Sausage very much- it's also soy-based but the taste is very faint, perhaps masked by the spices.) I like ground beef with well-browned onions- tried masking the taste with onions but that didn't work.
