Its durable glass backing and fine micro-serrated surface deliver consistent, professional-grade sharpening with effortless freehand control, making it a top choice for precision tool maintenance. ## Description Shapton Glass Ceramic Water Stones are the finest manmade ceramic water stones….period! This claim is based largely on two properties - the speed at which the Shapton stones cut and the edge they create. Shapton stones are designed to be harder, faster cutting, and denser than any other ceramic water stone on the market. Because they remove material quickly, the time required to hold a tool angle on the stone is reduced, making free hand sharpening much easier. Equally important to cutting speed is the consistency of the finished edge. The sharpest cutting edge is created by the finite intersection of two highly polished, flat surfaces. The finishing grits (16000 and 30000) of the Shapton stone system leave a polished surface free of the scratches creating a mirror finished, razor sharp edge. Each stone is comprised of a 5mm thick glass backing plate fused to a 5mm thick stone and measures 2-3/4 W x 8-1/4L. We recommend purchasing, and using, the Shapton stone holder. As it provides a secure platform and protects your stone when in use Review: I am extremely satisfied. - Saved money over buying the Naniwa Diamond Whetstone 3000, which I was originally shopping for. This works amazing and delivers results so I am glad I bought this instead. Stone is white so you can easily see the shaving off of the the knife metal. Yes, I would buy it again. Review: Shapton Stones are Magical - I've used oilstones, waterstones, Arkansas stones, diamond stones, India stones, etc throughout my life, but the Shapton stones outshine them all. They're ceramic with even, precisely controlled grits. When sharpening, I can see the steel coming off the knife and hear as well as see if my angle is correct. They cut fast and are an immense pleasure to use. I took to them immediately because it was a wholly new sharpening experience for me. ## Features - Glass Ceramic - Japanese special glass with super ceramic - Ultra Fine - micro serated lines ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | ASIN | B003KU03WW | | Best Sellers Rank | #294,486 in Tools & Home Improvement ( See Top 100 in Tools & Home Improvement ) #538 in Sharpening Stones | | Brand | Shapton | | Brand Name | Shapton | | Color | Silver | | Customer Reviews | 4.8 out of 5 stars 283 Reviews | | Grit Type | Fine | | Item Dimensions L x W x H | 8.27"L x 2.76"W x 0.39"H | | Item Weight | 360 g | | Manufacturer | SHAPTON | | Manufacturer Part Number | SHGL4 50103 | | Material | Ceramic, glass | | Material Type | Ceramic, glass | | Model Number | Shapton Glass 4K | | Number of Items | 1 | | Product Dimensions | 8.27"L x 2.76"W x 0.39"H | | UPC | 799932583254 | ## Product Details - **Brand:** Shapton - **Color:** Silver - **Grit Type:** Fine - **Item Weight:** 360 g - **Manufacturer:** SHAPTON - **Material:** Ceramic, glass - **Number of Items:** 1 - **Product Dimensions:** 8.27"L x 2.76"W x 0.39"H - **UPC:** 799932583254 ## Images ![GlassStone 4000 3micro class TYPE WA 50103 - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/51lqBYVvrDL.jpg) ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I am extremely satisfied. *by G***R on June 7, 2026* Saved money over buying the Naniwa Diamond Whetstone 3000, which I was originally shopping for.
