You have to really get good at breath control to master playing more intricate songs and patterns. I'm really happy with this purchase. The song book it comes with has some great starter songs to learn how to play it and it seems very well made. The string it comes with to tie it around your neck is sturdy and the carrying pouch looks nice and is well padded also. The stand that it comes with seems to not work very well. Unless I'm retarded, it doesn't seem to sit on the stand properly. With all that said I give it 5 stars still and would recommend this setup to anyone interested in learning to play the Ocarina. The Zelda branding is cool as well. Out of the box I hated it but it quickly grew on me.I tested it with a tuner and all of the keys were spot on. I have large hands so it is not really comfortable for me. I will have to adjust to it. It sounds pretty good. Well after I played it for an hour or so. I think it needs to break in a bit.The very first sound that came out of it was something like a constipated bird. I was about to send it back but blew harder and it was fair. A little time later and I could blow much softer and the tone mellowed out.This is my first Ocarina so I am going to really have to work at it.My opinion? It is good enough for someone who wants to make YouTube videos or play in a folk band. Would I use this professionally? Well no I would not. I would more than likely make my own if I choose to use it professionally or I would have one made for me.Pros:* Fair to good sound after you play it for an hour or so* Cheap.* Sounds great for the price* Portable.* Makes a great gift for someone who has small hands* Would be very pleasing to look at if they bothered to completely paint inside the holesCons:* You need to play it for a while if it does not sound good out of the box* The stand is completely useless for the instrument. However it makes a great ring holder for my wife when she showers.* Very cheaply made. If you look in the holes, they did not even bother to cover them well.* Uncomfortable and heavy if you have large hands* Poor paint job keeps this from being a display peace.In closing I like it. It is not easy to learn. do not buy one for someone easily triggered or have no patients. You will have to learn how to hold it and play it. I wished that they took a little more time to make holes more even and painted all the way through. Because when you look at it, you cannot help but see the terrible paint job on the inside.
