After reading through the product listing a little bit closer, I realized that the USB cable that came with the adapter was to provide power - this cable is REQUIRED for the adapter to work. This cable connects to the side of the adapter through a micro USB interface, and connects to the power source (most likely your computer) via USB. Luckily, I have a USB outlet close to my VGA. I have tried it a few times now, with the USB cable, and it has worked everytime. I do wish that they would include some instructions with the adapter, or maybe update the pictures in the listing, to show the cable attached. Keep in mind that in order to use your computer to provide power, you must have USB output near your VGA!
