I used the size chart; usually I wear medium shirts and size 14 jeans so I went with the large. For me it fits perfect on top but tight in the hips, thighs, and butt. If you prefer a looser fit (like the model) go up a size because using the size chart the fit is slim, but that may be what you are looking for especially if layering. If I lived in a cold climate I could put jeans over and wear it as shirt. I'm 5'6 with a long torso so the crotch is right there so I don't think these would work for anyone tall.
