They are a bit smooth, so I might avoid taking them to gig the first time you’re playing them. The tackiness of the grip improves quickly after playing with them. I purchased them for my son. These are the second pair that I have purchased for him. He says that there is not much difference in the weight and that they feel good, and play well. I bought his first pair 16 months before this pair. Before, his hardwood drumsticks would last 1 month at most.
