Matfer Bourgeat Copper is Gorgeous and Amazing!!
Because of the cost in starting over with Copper, I vacillated between which brand and which type (copper or carbon steel)? At 78, I didn’t want to regret my choice. The Chicago Times article a few months ago convinced me that Matfer Bourgeat was the best copper choice and I liked that the iron handles were really iron handles and not just made to look like iron handles. Then the weight was a concern, as well as not being able to let the dishwasher do all the clean up for me. I finally took the plunge and ordered the Bourgeat Copper 8 piece set, with iron handles and during the 3 months it took for them to get here, I changed my mind a hundred times, still wondering if they’d be too heavy or too hard to clean. They finally arrived and the first time I used the first piece it got a red patina that is unbelievably, surprisingly, incredibly beautiful! I don’t think I’ll ever polish these lovely pieces. They are too beautiful! And, they aren’t just a pretty face! Cooking is a delight, cleaning them is wonderful, easy, and a lovely simple ritual. My choice couldn’t have been better and one day my Grands and Greats will enjoy them as well!

None better than Bourgeat
Bourgeat is the very, very best. I also own the 5 piece Mauviel 250c set (and still use it). However Bourgeat is the best. Better than Falk, better than Mauviel. Real professional cooking tools. Improved my cooking in time, quality and taste. Please do not waste your money on any of the 150 series from the other supplier. You also will not appreciate burning your hands with bronze handles. A sole exception - I find my small 8" 150c fry pan useful for saute' of small quantities of mushrooms, bell peppers, shallots for omelettes. It's faster than a 250 for very small amounts of food.Heavy copper is expensive. It is an investment. It is worth it, many times over.I wish I had purchased this stuff when I was 26.$2000.00 averaged over 20 years is $100 a year; over 40 years it's $50 bucks a year.It will last much more than a lifetime, easily several generations. Your grandchildren will thank you, and often.

Re: Nice products
I received it within 2 weeks . It is a heavy but quality products. Cooking time faster and cook better. I really read all the comments and do my research before i bought it. I also followed the other customers' friendly reminds. One of the lid had "mark" (it seem like without pack well) but it would not impact the quality. I still kept it. Hopefully, the seller can pay attention the packaging for future customers. Highly recommended if you are looking for a quality and fair price.

Heavy thick beautiful copper
Starting point: The copper is thick and does a great job with heat dispersion as promised. Also, the pieces are very good looking. That said, there are some things you should know:* On the stovetop, the cast iron handles get dangerously hot just from conduction. Handle covers or sleeves are needed.* If you're not used to cooking with copper, expect to be surprised at how quickly and how hot the lids become. This is probably good for cooking, but bad for bare fingers. I've learned to always use an oven mitt or dish towel to pick up the lids. This wasn't ever necessary for my all stainless steel cookware, so it takes getting used to.* The 7 1/8" sauce pan is riveted a quarter of the way up from the base. This makes it unstable when filled half-way with boiling water. I found this out the hard way when moving to the sink to drain a pasta dish -- it was top heavy and tended to roll over in a way that was hard to control. Going forward, I will never fill it more than one-third of the way from the base. None of my other cookware has this limitation.* The 9 1/2" flared saute pan is shaped differently than other cookware I've encountered. It's a great looking piece of cookware but I haven't yet figured-out when it would be the pan of choice. The flare is pronounced so that the base has a much smaller area that the top, so it's surprising how little food it holds for such a big pan.* The 11" brazier proved to be the one that is most useful, most of the time. It is my favorite.* The lids are standard sizes, so you can likely use lids from other cookware sets. I often use the steel rimmed clear glass lids from other sets. Their handles stay cool and you can see the food as it cooks.* The advertised weights are correct. This is thick gauge copper, so expect it to be heavier than you expect. Everyone who picks it up is surprised at the heft.* Not a big deal, but the interior stainless steel discolors almost immediately. My All Clad cookware never discolored. So something is a bit off here.* I use Mauviel Copperbrill to clean the exterior and it works great. These pieces are gorgeous.

One Star
The set came without 11in lid, and poorly packaged. 11 inch brazier was defected.

Unsurpassed Copperware
I felt like I was five again at Christmas time opening each boxed Bourgeat piece!! The simplicity, craftsmanship and strength of the cookware is unsurpassed. I studied Mauviel, Ruffoni and Bourgeat for hours. I even bought the Mauviel 2.5mm copper set with bronze handles. I returned them because I prefer the cast iron handless and I really didn't like the large Mauviel stamp. Came across as gawdy. The simplicity and elegance of Bourgeat will enhance any kitchen. Now the cooking begins!!

Best pans I have ever used!
These pans are amazing. I am a chef and I swear my food tastes better using these pans. They are very expensive and polishing them is an extra step. However, they really are the best pans I have ever used and am glad I chose them over jewelry as my Christmas present this year.
