The display screen needs to be opened up little bit for this to sit flush on the base and then the screen cannot be closed back flat. If you have remote cables or USB cables such as for tethering, you are going to have a hard time getting those to pass through. The first one I found was from Really Right Stuff, a company that I shy away from because of certain political contributions the owner has made in the past. My search led me to this product, which is significantly cheaper.Having never owned an l-bracket before, I can not compare this with others. I can say, however, that it mounts easily, seems sturdy, and allows access to all three port doors on the side of the camera (as well as the battery door in the grip itself).
