Review: I purchased two of these over the past 4 months for two different locations. This thing is a beast! It is heavy, first and foremost. This is not a toy. It is not a small lithium ion starter you buy from HF. This jump box is well built, and strong and will start just about anything! I literally started a Cat 977 with two dead batteries and the machine had not been run in years. This jump box did not even flinch! I have started many trucks, from F250's up the tandem dump trucks without any problems. You get what you pay for and this is a good value for the month. It is simple, no frills, no modern electronics but it does the job and does it very well. Know what you are doing when you use it because there is a lot of power coming from this box.
Review: I did a fair amount of research before deciding on this unit. After looking at most manufactures I pretty quickly eliminated the others for quality concerns. I figured for an emergency use unit it did not make a lot of sense to skip on quality. The "Jump-in-Carry" rated high on reviews regardless of the unit. The basic difference in their models is size and starting capacity roughly translating into battery size. While I did not need a large unit capable of starting large trucks bigger battery capacity does translate into more reserve starting power and more important to me could be somewhat discharged (if you forgot to charge) and still work for my application. Consequently, I tried to stay in the middle of the pack as far as "cranking" amps was concerned. Additionally, the larger (typically two battery units) got to be pretty heavy and not really portable. The closest competitor to this unit is the 660 with 660 amps of cranking power at about half the price! The reason I bought this unit is as follows. 1. 770 cranking amps vs 660 or close to 20% more. 2. 68" cables vs 46" cables. These were the longest cables I could find on a portable unit. Most were 46" or shorter. Even at 46" in most applications I suspect you would be trying to find a place under the hood to balance the unit. At 68" the unit will sit on the ground or at least give you more options as to placement. 3. Size wise by volume it is over 30% smaller than the 660 and weighs about 1/4 pound less even with the longer cables. Additionally it is only 4" thick which opens up many areas for storage that might not be possible with the 660. While this is highly subjective I also figured the black case would show less wear and tear over time. If none of the above is important to you the 660 should work well. If it is I would opt for this unit and not look back. I also ordered a 1 foot cord that is tied to the unit and will be a dedicated charging cord so I don't have to scurry one up at recharge time. Update: Received this unit today and it looks bullit proof! Even though I bought it because of the smaller size I was still surprised at how small it was. Large screen portable PC's would have about the same foot print. Unit is slim at only 4 inches but will still stand upright on a flat surface. Unit will fit under and behind the back seats on an Avalance with some room to spare. Not mentioned in the information I saw is it does come with a 12V plug in and a male/male cord that can be used to recharge from the car plug if needed. Analog gauge on front is large, easy to read and "old school" no nonsense. Activates with the press of the red button and shows charge state. As arrived it showed in the green and ready to go so could have been used immediately. The one foot cord I bought while a touch tight will allow the unit to stand up against a wall and be plugged into a standard height wall outlet then plugged into its self and wrapped around the handle for storage. Unlike some of the "toy" jump boxes I saw at the local discount store this is a professionsl grade unit that should last most users a life time espcially since the battery can be replaced. NOTE: I recharged the unit per instructions for about 30 hours (24 hours would have done it). For this type of battery a full charge is slightly under 13 volts. Mine charged up to about 13.25. The volt gauge on the unit goes up to 16 volts and the middle of the "green" area is at about 13 volts. So do not expect the gauge to show all the way up in the green when fully charged. At proper charge the needle should show about the mid point of the guage which is about in the middle of the green.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: I would like to know if it comes with an AC adapter or how does this charge ?**
A: Yes it comes with its own ac adapter AND it can be left plugged into a outlet indefinitely with no danger of over charging and ruining the internal battery, thus the unit will always be ready for action. Great piece of equipment. Pricey but you get what you pay for. I tried numerous other jump starters which were garbage. I did a lot of research and came up with this one. Hope this helpsRon

**Q: Will this start a F-250 Diesel? My new batteries are junk and need more CCA power, around 1100. I believe this will work but not sure. It gets cold**
A: Hi,I sometimes have to start large Volvo and Scania Diesel 24V engines (6-9liters) with completely dead batteries. If I use the booster pack directly at the starter it usually works. I would not mind a bit more capacity, but the question is if I would be able to carry it with me. I charge it with the built in 110/230v charger in my car, so It's always 100% full. I have never had any problem starting petrol engines, not even when It has been cold, and the booster pack has been left uncharged for weeks. To my knowledge, this is the best one available on the market.

**Q: Is this model model made in the USA?**
A: Sorry for the delay in answering your question. I just went and looked at the jump-n-carry and it says 'assembled in USA from domestic and foreign materials'. Aside from that it is the most powerful jump starter I could find. Check out the cold cranking amps, that is where the power shows up. I am a commercial fisherman and the last thing I want to do is wrestle a 125 lb battery into a row boat and get it ashore to be recharged because a pump stuck on, or some other thing drained it down so my diesel would not start. More info than you asked for but I hope it helps. Good luck-------------------Dana T

**Q: where can i buy spare parts for the jnc1224 battery boster pack. im based in uk**
A: You can contact the manufacturer at 1-800-328-2921 to get spare parts.

If you are looking for a handheld jump starter that can handle both 12-volt passenger vehicles and 24-volt commercial equipment (semis, farm tractors, construction machinery), Clore Automotive is widely considered the gold standard. Key Specifications 12V Mode: 3400 Peak Amps / 850 Cranking Amps 24V Mode: 1700 Peak Amps / 425 Cranking Amps Cable Length: 46 inches Cable Gauge: #2 AWG Welding Cable Weight: ~40 lbs Battery: Twin "Clore Proformer" Batteries Higher Cranking Power: With 850 Cranking Amps in 12V mode, this unit has a slight edge in raw power over the Truck PAC model. It is the better choice for large displacement diesel engines that are cold-soaked in winter. Simple Interface: The voltage switch is a simple plug-in selector. You plug the main connector into either the 12V or 24V socket on the front. It is foolproof and physically disconnects the clamps when not in use. Durability: The case is molded from high-impact polyethylene. It is designed to be thrown in the back of a service truck. Serviceability: Like most Clore products, the batteries are user-replaceable. When they eventually die after a few years, you don't throw the unit away; you just buy a replacement battery kit. Overall great product for personal and professional use.
