A key fact to note is that the threads on this unit are NOT a US standard size: They are called BSPP (British Standard Thread), which are not interchangeable with US pipe threads. (It has the same diameter as a standard US garden hose spigot fitting but the threads are a finer pitch: 14 threads per inch for BSPP vs. 11.5 for a US garden hose.) You can screw a US garden hose a couple of turns onto the thread but it probably won't seal well against the gasket. On ebay for $9 I found a brass 3/4" NPT male to 3/4" BSPP female adapter, and with two of those I got a perfect seal with two (US) garden hoses. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Simple solution for a 1/2 inch line to monitor water flow. *by D***M on July 5, 2017* Just hooked it up so too soon to see how long it will last. I am using it to see how much water is used in my pool this summer. I installed it in a copper bypass loop to my pool filler.The fittings that connect to the filler become tight before they compress the included washers, but this was easily solved by buying thicker washers at the hardware store.Transitioning from their fittings to copper is streightforward with standard copper fittings and teflon tape if you are going to hard install it.Reversing the flow will reverse the reader. It has an arrow on the casing indication the correct direction of flow.It is purely mechanical which I hope means it will last a long time....No instructions are included.I assume that if I broke the seal there is a way to zero It, but not sure. It reads in cubic meters which is easily converted to gallons online, but I wish they had a version tht read gallons too. ### ⭐ leaks at both hose fittings and worse, did not measure accurately for me *by E***S on September 21, 2018* Hi. Arrived timely. Nice meter but...Thread of garden hose on both inlet and outlet becomes tight before compressing the washers in the hoses so it leaks both places. Had to add one washer to one side and two washers to the other side. Something funky about the threads. I wonder if mine is defective.And furthermore, after time and $$ achieving no leaks,it did not work. No matter what position I used, the dials would not spin reliablyI filled 5 five gallon buckets, the meter changed from 0.169 to 0.171, ie .002 cu m or .002*264 or .528 galAnd then no instructions.So I returned it.
