Depending on the time of year the moisture level in the moss you receive may vary from very damp to nearly dry. Regardless of the moisture level when your moss arives it is very much alive. Moss is the only non-vascular plant on earth and can be dry and dormant when you get it, once you wet it it will spring back.

I loosely set the bowl lid on top and let it be for a few days. It really greened up and fluffed up. That’s when I got a picture. And now I’ve started terrarium projects. Two small ones and got a big one yet to do.

I tried everything to revive this moss and it never grew or resprouted. Tried soaking it in water for a few hours to rehydrate, and then set in a glass terrarium on a north porch. Misted regularly and.... Nothing. Just greenish, brown lumps of what was probably moss at one time. They arrive loose in an envelope with no instructions, so good luck if you try these.
