Now that that is out of the way, I don't know how anyone paints without one of these on larger jobs (even a single room). There becomes an efficiency point for using this vs. a standard roller, but i'd say anything that you are doing that is the size of a 10x10 bedroom or more, this is well worth it. The time i have saved with this little thing made it worth its weight in gold. However, its not perfect, which was expected at the price range its in. I ran into the following issues that were all rectified: - The pump loss section on its second use. It would not pull paint out of the bucket. However, after playing with it enough and leaving the machine running it eventually worked and has worked flawlessly the following 3 times i have used it. - The connection where the roller slides on to the handle tends to leak. To fix it, i just pulled the connection apart, wiped it off and put it back together. Fixed it every time it happened. This was usually when the roller was pretty saturated so i may have overloaded. Either way, its an easy fix. All in all, great machine for what its worth. Takes a bit of time to get a feel for how fast the paint loads the roller and how often you need to run the pump, but once you get it down, you will fly! I don't see this lasting 10 years, but honestly if you get 2-3 jobs out of it, its well worth the money. Lastly, cleanup sucks (as it does with most power rollers). Which is better or easier to use?** A: Both use the same roller and handle so for the paint application part, they are the same for ease-of-use, neither better nor worse. The difference between the two systems is in how and to what size paint container they connect. I have both and I use the Smart Side Kick more than the Smart Power roller because the Smart Power roller connects to a ONE Gallon paint can while I can use the Smart Side Kick with a ONE or FIVE gallon container. I use the power roller for painting large rooms, so it is always more than one gallon. The Smart Side Kick allows me to paint the entire room from the same container connection without having to stop and swapout one gallon paint cans, so Smart Side Kick is better for ease-of-use when having to use more than one gallon of paint. Clean-up for both systems is not quick nor simple...more paint wasted than I'd like, but the time saved painting large rooms makes it worth it. Had a older model which was 10 years old and the pump gave out like the last one I had which was over eight years old also. seams the rubber pumps don't hold up to time. this new works great just little issues I don't like. My old one had a speed control which helped when I was continuously painting. This one just has an On/Off. This model has the feed tube to the handle entering from the bottom back. And this is so you can attach it to an extension handle nice touch I like it and used it, but it causes an issue for me. My old model the feed tube entered the handle right from the bottom end, but this did not allow me to attach a handle extension. You see when your painting a wall and going up and down the feed tube tends to touch the newly painted wall if your not paying attention. I was thinking if the feed tube entered from the other side of the handle maybe that would help, not sure. But if your interested in a cheap in expensive painting system that makes painting a breeze, this is the one. Its small simple to use and cuts painting time down in half. Just be warned before you start setup an alarm for breaks, you really lose track of time when painting with this thing. Clean up is like all the others run soapy warm water through the system, then just warm water to flush it out and clean all the parts.
