In particular I think of an occasionally headstrong Cane Corso (think of a pitbull on steroids), two Great Danes, one of whom was a very volatile rescue dog when she arrived, and most lately, an extremely strong Dane-Labrador rescue who can still be impulsive when rabbits beckon or can prove dog-aggressive when I least expect it. The last dog is coming along splendidly now but was returned to the rescue by two previous owners who found him too much to handle. This particular collar is a GREAT training collar which normally hangs slack but can be suddenly tightened for corrections, providing the mild "mother-dog" bite of a pinch collar. Like a pinch collar, it also allows the human maximum control, but UNLIKE a pinch collar, it will not fall off. It can be easily sized to stay up at the top of the neck where it's needed. If it's like the first Sprenger collar I bought (from Germany, the only place where I could find them at the time), it will last forever. (My new adolescent rescue dog will graduate to that collar when his training is complete). All of that said, I do see that one reviewer complained that this collar fell off. Honestly, I cannot imagine how that happened. As someone else complained, adding or subtracting links is a challenge. I use a fat screwdriver to pry the links open and a good needlenose pliars to close them, plus a fair amount of strength for both halves of the job. Once the links are squeezed closed again, the collar is all but impregnable. And as an added bonus, these collars are downright elegant! In fact their appearance protects the dog-walker from both the unwarranted criticisms of passersby who believe that pinch collars are cruel however they are used AND from the equally unwarranted fears of passersby who believe that any dog who requires a strong training collar should be euthanized instantly. Yes, Sprenger collars are relatively expensive, but, as noted, they last forever. I am SO grateful that they're now available in this country! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ High quality that works *by V***Y on Reviewed in the United States on August 18, 2019* Collar is not difficult to put on once you figure it out. It works without drawing judgement from people. Once our dog was trained, I just use it for the vet as they fawn over him too much getting him excited. Collar looks great and vet commented on his beautiful 'bling'. I wanted a hook closure but I ended up with crew latch which is OK.just needed to get used to it.
