With water just below the desired level install the skimmer by using a sharp object to punch out the screw holes. Once it is installed and right THEN take a razor blade and cut out the square opening. **Q: Will the hose connections fit the intex hoses with the threaded nut? Like with the Intex 56671EG 2,650-Gallon Sand Filter Pump.** A: David, they do not fit. Intex uses odd sizing so you have to be creative. I hard plumbed my skimmer to my sand filter. On the filter side I reused the nut from the Intex hose but on the skimmer side I glued PVC to the skimmer. I know it is hard to visualize. Check out this website there is a ton of info on there. It provides the gasket for both inside and outside of the pool and also helps keep chlorinated water from contacting (and rusting) the pool wall. Butterfly = think of two gaskets which are joined at the outer edge and therefore capable of being slipped over the square pool opening; kind-of-like your index and middle fingers which meet at the bottom.
