If you’ve never turned a mill this book will only confuse you. I gave it two stars because it has some interesting pictures. But, you could get these free on the web. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This book is a great resource *by A***N on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on May 20, 2015* So far I’ve designed my own Pepper Mills and prepared my own drawings showing the dimensions of each set of internal milling components to rough out plans for fitting the mechanisms. With this book, you don’t have to do things in the old fashioned way that I started. The author provides a great deal of detail about designs, dimensions and fitting of the milling components.The designs included in the book are really nice. You’d certainly would not go wrong making Pepper Mills directly after the authors specs. Even better, once you have some confidence in making these mills you can use the author’s designs as the basis for some more customized items to fit you specific materials or user needs. I've been turning mills for a few years but it's nice to see the techniques used by other and this book would be an excellent resource for someone just starting to turn salt & pepper mills.This book was published by Taunton Press and is printed on very heavy glossy stock. The photos are pretty much all in color and there are quite a few illustrations to explain techniques, show dimensions or general plans. These are all very well done.While it’s possible that some of these mills may have appeared in a magazine (I don’t recognize any), I suspect that all or at least the majority of this book is new material and not rehashed magazine articles like some wood working books are.I’ve picked up a few books on turning Pepper Mills and I’m comfortable saying that this book is by far the best written, best illustrated and most comprehensive of all that I’ve seen out there at this time. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great Basic Instruction Manual *by G***N on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on September 8, 2011* Great instructions for all kinds of salt and pepper grinders. Would have liked more designs for the exterior but I really can do that myself when I know the required internal dimensions. I still waited for my grinder parts to ensure that their dimensions are the same as those in the book. I ordered the Crush Grind with a shaft. Don't know about the dimensions for the others.
