Be patient.
The instructions were unhelpful. It became trial and error to make it operational.

Simple setup, simple operation
I love anything tech, and I especially love anything with even a hint of the future in it, so I was very happy to request this item. The setup is extremely simple, just press your finger to the sensor ten times, then you are good to go. I do not have any issues with the sensor reading my print either. The lock seems pretty sturdy, and the steel shackle is thin enough to go through a small hole, such as with a locker. To me this is the perfect option, for example, with the locker, since everything I need to lock up (including a key to a normal lock) would need to be secured inside the locker. This prevents me from having to keep track of a key, or worry that someone would get into my locker with said key. I just love how simple it is to use, and I love all things biometric.

Such a great idea
I misplaced my glasses and didn't read the instructions correctly, so I had an initial bad impression. There is a small button on the side to press to program the lock and I didn't figure that out right away. You press it quickly and then use whatever finger you choose to tap on the fingerprint area ten times. That's all there is to it. If you make a mistake you get a red light. If you do it right, you hear a tone. The loop is thinner than regular combination locks and will easily work for most lockers. This is just what I've needed for several years now. I have terrible luck with combination locks at the gym. Now I don't have to worry about forgetting my combination or having precise placement. That's a godsend since I don't like to wear my glasses when I work out. Excellent product.

Really useful and slick padlock
I love this padlock! I work in public arenas where all the employees have to keep their bags together and I’m always concerned about someone trying to steal my valuables. I normally use a TSA tumbler lock, but the bag area is usually not well lit and seeing the small numbers on the lock is tedious. This padlock solves that, I can open it instantly by just feel and I’m able to program my wife and I’s prints so only we have access. A perfect solution for me! I really like that it charges via usb, no batteries to mess with and I always have a power bank on me that I charge my accessories with so I’ll never get locked out of my bag because I forgot spare batteries or to charge it, I can charge it on site if need be! Finger print pad works pretty well 4/5 times I open it. Finger print reader is smaller than my full thumb print so I just have to get my finger in the right spot and I’m good to go. I plan to order many more of these! Awesome!*Update- I just used this at a festival job where it was rainy and my hands were in and out of buckets of water all day. as my fingers became more wrinkly from being wet the less often the pad could accurately read my print. It did still work, but took me 15-20 tries sometimes. Once my hands dried out and went back to normal it was easy to open again.

A little tricky to get set up and sometimes frustrating to unlock
I got this to use primarily at the gym, so the biggest drawback for me has been that it doesn't seem to recognize any of my thumbprints after a workout where maybe my fingers are hot or maybe expanded from sweat - I'm not sure. I have to go wash my hands in cold water, dry them off and then wait a few minutes before I can open the lock. Even though I used two of the recognized spots for my two thumbs, I ended up having to take two more for my post-workout thumbs. It seems to have worked better since then.I struggled to get things programmed a bit after the initial Admin print was programmed, but after several tries I got the hang of the pacing (you can't go too fast or too slow and you have to "unlock" it right after you program it before it considers the programming failed.)I also really struggled to open the box! That's not really factored into the review, but it was really difficult for me to pry the box open - i had to rip one of the sides and it's a really sturdy box, so that was no easy feat either.I like the convenience of not having to use a number, padlock or key, but it is pretty frustrating to not be able to open it quickly at the gym (and kind of embarrassing if you're in a busy locker room and it keeps beeping that it failed - couldn't figure out how to turn off the beep so that it would just be a light)
