No joke. But they work great! Kept my dogs feet covered and clean. They have since worked great in the mud left behind. I like that they are plastic and thus easy to clean. A couple of notes: make sure you put them on as tight as you can as they can fall off. I really only had that happen once or twice, but they will if you don't really wrap them tight and you have active runners. Also, after you wash them, make sure to put them upside down to dry, or you will end up with water still in them when you try and put them on next time.UPDATE: Originally a 5 start, but 3 months in and the straps started tearing.
