They seem to have a reasonable amount of metal in their construction and have a good weight. The solar panel has quite a large area on the top of the lamp. These lights are pretty stylish with a kind of retro yet modern design. They actually light up pretty bright. Even the dawn ‘til dusk low setting gives reasonable illumination. It’s December now so I have them just on the PIR security mode. They are really bright in that setting. I’ve triggered them quite late a night and both have come on fine. The only issue I noticed is that if they’ve just timed out and you get in PIR range just afterwards they are a little finicky coming back on. Having said that we recently had a bonfire party and I set them to on at low brightness with middle brightness when the PIR is triggered and with 5 of us in the field of view of the lights they stayed on constantly at mid brightness and ran for over an hour even with little light to charge them in the day. They were very new then and may have had some charge in them when delivered though.One query is that they are supposed to have removable batteries but there is nothing in the instructions about accessing them and it’s not obvious how they come apart. All in all I’m quite impressed and would say these are definitely better than real bargain basement options. They are pretty easy to install and much less grief and expense is involved compared with getting a power supply and switching installed for mains outside lights.
