The Mower symptoms were as if the choke was on and was misfiring as though spark plug was fouled, also would not idle. I chased the ghost by checking valve clearances, push rods, rocker arms, head gasket, spark plug, fuel pump, replaced anti backfire solenoid two different times, new fuel filter, cleaned factory carb twice, replaced solenoid again, swapped carbs multiple times. Bottom line, had I merely not cheaped out and spent the ~$100 and replace the factory Nikki junk carb with this Briggs & Stratton carb, I would have saved a lot of time and aggravation. So, writing all this in hopes to save someone else from going through the same issues. Also, I had no problems with the choke function on this Briggs carb. I did not have to modify anything.
