I have two of the minis and one is empty right now. I just tried setting the full one inside the empty and they do not fit inside (if your asking about stacking for storage). I also tried stacking the empty container on top of the full and it does not stack. However, these are still the best containers I have ever had (including Tupperware :)

Each container has the dimensions listed and the listed measurement is accurate. The 1.2Q for nuts is 7.5" by 7.5" by 3.5"

Q: Can I use the nut container for cereal?

It's smaller than the normal cereal bin, but it would work.....size would be good for granola or a partial normal box of cereal.

Q: Does it work for sugar?

Yes, but I would get the stainless steal metal lids that are a option. They are stronger and will produce a tighter seal against the plastic lid
