I mounted the hoist on a steel beam between two trusses in my Cleary building so each truss is carrying half the weight. I built a wood cage on castors that I use to raise 9 totes at a time from the first to second floor of my warehouse then I wheel the cage to where I need it. The fully loaded cage weighs about 700 pounds and the hoist handles it like a champ.As others have noted the control cable is a bit short for some applications. To solve the problem I bought 20 feet of six conductor 16 AWG control cable. To make a longer cable, cut the control cable in the middle and splice in the 20 feet of new cable. Make sure you get your color codes right, stagger the cuts of the six individual control wires, strip the wires and splice them with electrical wire nuts, then use a roll or two of electrical tape to keep the connections apart and hold the cables so there is no pressure on the connections. Took half an hour to build a 25 foot control cable that works great. ### ⭐⭐ 2.0 out of 5 stars Electric Hoist *by D***S on Reviewed in the United States on October 27, 2010* This hoist has good pulling power but when it starts pulling a load it pulls the spool in a downward motion and the cable all winds on the down side and soon builds up and contacts the auto shut off lever and shuts it down. I have tried to change the position that it is hooked on top to achieve the proper balance but that didn't help. They a do a great job at getting me by until I can afford a heavy duty chain hoist. I have used this same model for several years to skin hundreds of deer per year. They are cheap but do hold up for several years. It would be nice to have a 20 foot switch cord.
