How Jesus Runs the Church

I LOVE this book! Very easy to read and understand and gave me a deep appreciation for the important work, often unnoticed, of church officers. It was really good to get a close-up look at the process; specifically how church government works and why. This book convinced me that every Christian should take the time to learn the governing process of their church. In the author’s words, “To care about and to be zealous for the government of the church is to prize and to cherish the reign of Jesus.” I had just never looked at it that way. Truly inspirational.

This is by far the best introductory text on presbyterian church government available today. Waters draws extensively from the 17th century “Jus Divino” book, Peck, Cunningham, other 19th century American Presbyterians, and the PCA Constitutional documents (WCF, BCO).

This book was required reading for my Sunday school class. We are studying what is required to run a church according to the Bible, and not man's design. I find it very good reading, especially if you are in a position of responsibility for the direction you wish to take your church. As for myself, I am not that position, and only read it for my own interest and understanding of the Bible's (Jesus) design for the church today.

This book helped me to have better understanding on church government. It is a good starting point for further research on it.

While I didn't agree with everything in the book, it's a great introduction to the structure of the government in the church.

Excelent book for pastors and members. A good guide for study the rules of the church organizaion, like Jesus ordained.

Helpful even for non- Presbyterians, like me. I especially benefitted from the authors interaction with numerous biblical texts. Readable and enlightening.

This book not only provides the biblical support for Presbyterian government, but also provides the specifics. Even if you are not in agreement with everything the author espouses you should at least be able to provide as airtight of a biblical argument for your own view of these issues.
