If you want to take them off ( on solid wood ) a sharp blow upwards or downwards depending on fitting will cleanly release them, in normal usage they stay put.They are worth it just to stop those heart-jolting moments when a toddler is heading straight for a corner and you can't stop them, now if they do headbutt the corner they don't cause injury, just surprise.They work.
