I would not suggest it in an area where wind storms are often and where they get above 20 mph. The wire is strong to handle the weight of the canopy. I had it that way last season but it finally snapped at the last storm of the season. I’m in central Ohio and we do get pretty good amount of wild storms and winds through out the year. I am using chains this year. **Q: Would it be possible for a mouse to climb on this line?** A: Probably not but I haven't found any mice to ask them to try climbing it yet ;) **Q: What size drill bit is best for the screw anchors?** A: 4mm **Q: Has anyone used this as a clothes line? The original setup needed to be removed (cut down) to paint the house. This kit produced a much better result than the ad hoc first attempt.The turnbuckle/carabiner approach creates a system that can be removed and then restored.The screw based rope clamp design is great for fine-tuning the rigged wiring after everything is up.The hardware is is adequate for 4 rigged lines with a carabiner on one end and a turnbuckle on the other end. Just grab a second kit or similar hardware to accommodate the number of lines you need to rig. I needed two additional riggings (a total of 6 lines).The kit requires no special tools. You'll need a only wire cutter (e.g. pliers with sharp wire cutter in jaws) . They include a wrench for the rope clamps.Our lights are strung on a black cable, so the coated multistring wire blends into the string light wiring.BTW, I was not able to get the parts individually at local hardware stores, so the kit really simplified the sourcing of the parts.Tips:Measure on a ladder and rig on the ground. You can rig one end, attach that end and the pull the wire to the proper length, mark it, and then rig in terra firma!Rig the lines with extra length line to allow fine-tuning after initial setup.String everything to your plan; then go back after to fine tune the support rigging. And finally, carefully adjust after adding lights if needed (this is the hardest step since the weight of the lights will be on the line you're adjusting.If you have a desire to limit droop in the string lights, have more zip ties handy to snug the string lights to the support line. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent to hang string lights. *by P***J on Reviewed in the United States on July 30, 2020* This is a very good product. I purchase it to hang my string lights. The string lights are quite heavy and total of 96 feet. All the accessories provided in the kit are helpful and I used them all. The cable has an external vinyl coating. I live in Central California and it gets pretty hot here. It would be interesting to see how this will hold on over the coming months to years. It took me few hours to get everything set up. There is very minimal sag in the lines. This was my first attempt and got some ideas watching YouTube videos.If you are first timer please watch the YouTube videos on how to do this before attempting. Would recommend getting additional zip ties as there aren’t enough in the kit.So far I’d recommend this product. I needed 200ft to complete my project and was forced to stop the job midway and repurchase additional rope and parts.
