The sensor is at the tip of a 3 ft long wire probe, which has a high temperature ceramic fiber insulation. It has a miniature type connector that will work with digital K-type thermometers. This probe can used to measure air or gas temperatures, it can be attached to pipes or embedded into objects you want to measure. Excellent to use in kiln, pottery, metal working or high temperature ovens or furnaces. This is our new 2017 version with improved ceramic fiber insulation and a chromel metal wire at the tip, which prevents the unraveling of the ceramic fiber insulation at very high tempreatures in the kiln. But it will be very expensive, normally this is used to go from the hot zone to a colder zone, e.g. outside of an oven, and from there run a cheaper K-type extension wire. But if all of the wire run is hot we can make a longer custom version. **Q: Are these suitable for sub temperatures? I need something that can accurately measure 300C to -75C** A: I use these for refrigeration and ranges. my temperature range is to about -20 F. they are sturdy probes , however the wire ends aren't wrapped around the screws and have pulled out. I'm an HVAC/R Technician and expected a quality product. The probe started fraying after using it one time to check a fryer vat temperature. Also after a couple of uses, the probe no longer would read properly, it would sporadically jump and it was due to a bad connection between the wire and connector.
