What that means is, unlike most other jeans sold in the US, they are not *VANITY sized*. So, if you order a 36, your waist needs to be a little less than 36" so you fit.In contrast, my "Urban Pipeline" Size 36 is 39.5" around the belt area, and my Levis are 38.5".
