As another reviewer notes, it isn't a handmade pot and there was clayey smell that persisted for a while. But after a month or so use--I dedicated mine to Wuyi rock oolongs--and the pot began to absorb the tea I was brewing in it, its color deepened and became richer and its flavor-enhancing properties began to emerge. I find the shape, which I believe is appropriate to more heavily roasted oolongs, pleasing to the eye, and it feels good in the hand. Best not to mix types of tea with this pot, as yellow clay is pretty porous and may retain some flavor of whatever is brewed most often.
