Review: Not a cure-all, but it does make a difference - I purchased this for my husband's dog, who has allergies to so much (food, the environment, humans), and he's always itchy. He constantly gnaws on himself or scratches himself to the point of bleeding, has hot spots, the works. I've noticed that, when I use this in combination with other stuff (generally coconut oil), it seems to work better, but this is not a cure-all. My usual process it: bathe the dog, baste him in lotion, and slather him with barely melted (but not hot!) coconut oil. This combination seems to help a little bit, but it doesn't STOP his itching. If this alone doesn't work for you, try different combos. Maybe you need additional hydrocortisone cream added, or maybe you need hot spot treatment in conjunction with it, or maybe you need to add a moisturizer (like coconut oil) to your treatment plan - maybe you need a combination of these things. It's not a one-size-fits-all, but it does make a difference. I haven't noticed an increase in shininess, and there's thankfully no lather. It behaves like a lotion/conditioner. It is also VERY thick, so I have added water in the past to thin it out a little bit to make it more spreadable. I imagine you could mix it in a bowl with melted coconut oil or another moisturizer and probably yield a similar result. I've used this immediately after towel drying him, before towel drying him, and when he's totally dry already (as a reapplication). Apart from the fact that he hates getting wet/having anything touch him that isn't dirt or feces or animal carcass, he seems fine. Definitely not itchier, no reaction like it hurts/burns, nothing like that. The smell is fine, it kind of smells like a medical cream, I guess? I don't know. It doesn't stink, just smells like a product. The cost isn't great for the size of the bottle, but in combination with the other things I've mentioned, I won't complain too much. It DOES help make a difference, and I'm able to stretch the bottle out to last longer. I've bought two bottles now, one in September of 2024, the next one in October 2025. I don't use this daily for him, it's as-needed, because I've noticed it can make his fur feel kind of greasy (with or without coconut oil). You may use more or less than I did. Definitely doesn't hurt to give it a try, help your puppy feel less miserable. :) Picture attached for your viewing pleasure of the itchy boy himself.
Review: AtopiCream HC Worked Like a Charm - My dog had red hot skin on her belly and the vet ordered a prescription that wouldn't be ready for a few days. She recommended getting this cream to use while waiting. I am so glad that I decided to buy it. It helped SO much!! It is a soft creamy lotion that has a slight smell but nothing strong or offensive by any means. It was rather inexpensive and it lasts a while. It kept my dog comfortable while waiting for her prescription. I am so glad I followed her recommendation!!

## Questions & Answers

**Q: What if the dog licks the area?**
A: Great Question! AtopiCream™ offers micro-encapsulated ingredients for rapid absorption. Ingestion should be avoided. The label instructions include "rub lotion completely into the skin". Additionally, this formulation is designed to penetrate through the fur for maximum contact with the skin and absorption into the epidermis. When applied as directed, licking of the area does not pose a significant concern. As with all medications, keep out of reach of children.

**Q: What are all Ingredients?**
A: Ingredients for AtopiCream HC: Aqua/Water, Cetyl Alcohol, Stearyl Alcohol, Behentrimonium, Methosulfate, Butylene Glycol, Dimethicone, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Arginine, Lactic Acid, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Glycerin, Glyceryl Stearate, Cetearyl Alcohol, Stearic Acid, Sodium Lauroyl Glutamate, Hydrolyzed Corn Starch, Squalene, Sodium PCA, Tocopheryl Acetate, Polyacrylate-13, Polyisobutene, Polysobate 20, Acrylates/Ethylhexyl Acrylate, Copolymer, Acrylates/Dimethylaminoethyl Methacrylate Copolymer, Phosphate Buffer Saline, Butyrospermum Parkii Butter Extract, Hydroxypropyl Bispalmitamide MEA, Hydroxyethyl Behenamidopropyl Dimonium Chloride, Palmitic Acid, Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla) Wax, Cholesterol, Isomerized Safflower Acid, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Disodium EDTA.

**Q: Can I use this all over your dog or is it just for hot spots? My dog seems to scratch and lick all over but has no hot spots.**
A: AtopiCream HC is formulated for external use on the skin to reduce itching, redness and inflammation. It is not intended to be ingested. A proper veterinary exam is often required to diagnose the underlying cause of the “itch”. AtopiCream HC can be used as part of a multi-modal treatment approach for atopic dermatitis or as sole therapy for seasonal allergies, dry skin or flea allergy dermatitis.

**Q: Ok for equine use?**
A: Yes, AtopiCream HC is great for horses, dogs and cats.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Immediately relieves dry skin and soothes on contact
*by I***Z on December 12, 2025*

My cocker spaniel has struggled for a long time with severe dermatitis and recurring fungal infections that caused major fur loss, hot spots, and constant skin irritation. Despite medications and steroids, nothing brought her real relief. I switched to an all-natural, plant-based shampoo and decided to try this lotion after her baths to help with her dry, irritated skin. It’s only been a week since I started using this lotion, and the results are remarkable. She has completely stopped scratching, and she’s finally able to sleep soundly—snoring and truly relaxed. Her skin has returned to a healthy, normal color, and her fur has already started growing back. To see this much improvement in just 7 days is incredible. The lotion is very easy to use, absorbs beautifully, and leaves no oily residue. It doesn’t stain, smell, or leave anything behind—just soft, calm skin. The bottle is convenient too; when it gets low, I simply turn it upside down and tap it to bring the product forward, and a small cut in the bottle releases the rest. Absolutely fabulous product—worth every penny. I won’t stop using it.
