It was the squirrels running along top of fence to where they could drop into garden and dig up things I had just planted. I hoped these spikes would at least deter them for a bit. I think I have a squirrel or two who have high pain tolerance or are good at stepping between the points on the strips (I left no gaps.). I think I should have purchased something with longer, directional spikes that they would have MAYBE found more difficult to run over or around.
