I am currently pregnant, and wrote a little note "from the baby" asking each grandfather to write in their thoughts and memories to give to the baby next Christmas when he'll be around 7 months old. Both my dad and FIL were so excited to get the books. What a lasting, meaningful gift to share with their grandson! In it, there are so many cool things to write about with prompts. It moves sequentially, starting with their own ancestry and childhood, schooling, relationships, jobs and careers, meeting grandma, having their own children, and their thoughts on their grandchild. It has places to sprinkle in advice, wisdom, humor, and even photos. I certainly think this book is better-suited toward 'traditional' families, meaning those with grandparents who are still married. Although, they could certainly choose to leave out certain information if they wished. Looking back, I wish that I had something like this from my own grandparents. Preserving their words and memories long after they could share them themselves. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This is our third time around for this excellent book.. *by D***N on Reviewed in the United States on January 15, 2007* When our first grandchild was born, I received a grandmother gift: a copy of this book's companion (Grandmother Remembers). I was so pleased with it that I looked for a similar book for my husband, and was delighted to find Grandfather Remembers. For each succeeding grandchild, I have bought a new pair of these books. We take our time filling them in, and present them to the grandchild at a time when the child will personally enjoy them. (The reason I bought only one this time is that the one my husband was working on got damaged.) These excellent books can be filled in briefly or in minute detail (which is the way we do). We have enjoyed the process in each case, and our two eldest grandchildren (22 and 16) do treasure them. This pair was a special "Sweet Sixteen" gift for our granddaughter. The earlier pair was a Bar Mitzvah gift for our grandson. We have one more pair, which we'll work on in a leisurely way for our 7-year-old grandson, to be given at a future date. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Almost 5 stars *by C***S on Reviewed in the United States on June 17, 2017* It was larger than I expected it to be! Nice hardback book...This is a great gift idea and well put-together. The only minor "complaint" I would have is that I wish I could remove some of the pages. My parents just recently divorced and there are several pages all about the grandparents' wedding, first years, and all about how he feels about grandmother, etc. It'a not bad, I just wish it focused solely on the grandfather... otherwise I would have bought a book about the grandparentS.
