I reached out to them because of the dent/ding in the side, and they expedited a replacement shipment to my house. It was straightforward helpful customer service, and I commend them on it. On the staining, turns out the coloration differences are from the natural patterns in the wood - not from any staining. The replacement has a totally different coloration pattern (one that I prefer in fact). Be aware that each one is unique, and I think you'll be very happy with what you get.This is a well made tray. Excellent materials and craftsmanship in the joining. I expect this to last for years. I had to ding this twice, though for what I see as defects that should have been caught before shipping. The first is a minor ding/dent on one side of the tray. It's minor, but it is visible, and at this price point it shouldn't be there. The second is the staining. One one side it visibly stops midway down the side of the tray creating a jarring line that detracts from the quality of the wood. It does feel protected despite the light color. Overall: this purchase was a mixed bag.
