I suppose if a model is equipped with a green or red dot beam, then a battery is required. **Q: Will this work on a larger caliber rifle? .308 30-06 and such** A: Any scope will work physically. I would say to stay away from cheaper scopes for rifles with more power as the recoil might throw off the zero.
