It is meant to be in water, and I think it would get too hot without water to disperse the heat. **Q: Could you use this to take the chill off in a atrium?** A: no, this must be completely under water and 150 watts is not going to have much impact on such a space.....better use 150 watt light bulb or more. **Q: The included digital Thermometer did not include a battery. Does anyone know what # watch battery it requires?** A: Mine did come with the battery, and "works". How accurate it is remains to be seen. I just received and installed the thermometer and heater tonight, so I'll check in the morning and compare to another thermometer. **Q: Digital Thermometer supplied with this heater is almost 3°F off. Is there a way to calibrate it?** A: Mine is 10 degrees off. I can not express how unhappy I am with this product. The dial on the top of the heater is nowhere near what the water temp is, and the digital thermometer they send with it is horrible. Two other sources say they are off by 10 degrees. Overall love it. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Fixed Temperature Control *by L***E on February 15, 2025* I purchased this heater as a replacement since my last heater finally gave out. The heater itself does its job, it heats the water to temp and keeps it somewhat to where it’s set. It was a great addition having the temp probe and digital readout. I have tested it against another heater’s internal control and mercury thermometer and it seems to be mostly accurate. My only issue, and reason for giving this thermometer a four star review, is because the temperature dial on the top of the heater, are the ONLY temperatures you may choose to heat your aquarium. It is not variable, or adjustable. I found if I set the heater to 75, the tank would sit around 72, and if set to 79, it will stay at 79. The seven degree swing seemed rather large IMO. Like I said, the temp is not variable, and if the selector on the heater is not lined up with a number, the heater will not turn on at all or heat the aquarium.
