Are they sturdy enough to be used as everyday dining room chairs?** A: I believe it’s 300 lbs. Hubby is 275 and feels secure seated on these chairs. They’re surprising sturdy and can be an ‘everyday’ chair but I find them uncomfortable to sit on for any long period of time as the padding is scant; the dimensions of the seat are a tad undersized compared to other dining chairs I’ve used. High points for quality by price but I need an extra pillow for some cushioning. **Q: Can the pad be removed for washing?** A: No it cannot be removed. It is a very durable fabric that can be spot cleaned if necessary. They feel solid and sturdy. The cushions don't seem to be made with the best quality foam so, as people have said, they aren't the most comfortable but they're folding chairs. I don't expect too much comfort from folding chairs and these ones actually are quite comfortable in comparison. I didn't have the same difficulty opening and closing them as some have commented on. There are instructions under the seat of each chair and if you follow them, it's actually pretty easy. they aren't going to open as easily as a metal folding chair but the design is also a little bit more complicated than the metal ones. I can get them open and closed in less than a minute with only a little more effort than required for a metal one.My only issue is the caning on the back has small pieces sticking out but easy to trim so I'm not that worried.
