## Overview

Wysong Uretic is a premium, nutrient-dense dry cat food featuring 42% high-quality protein from fresh and dried meats, enriched with advanced nutraceuticals like prebiotics, probiotics, enzymes, omega-3s, and antioxidants. Designed to support urinary tract health and overall vitality, it’s a vet-recommended formula trusted for over 30 years and suitable for all breeds and life stages.

## Description

Uretic has achieved extraordinary results in tens of thousands through multiple generations for over thirty years. It was created by Dr. Wysong and owes its popularity solely to veterinary recommendation and word of mouth. By targeting wellness, immune and urinary systems, Uretic has proven itself as a diet that creates robust vitality. This improved formulation is designed to take advantage of new processing methods to preserve natural value, and nutritional advances related to epigenetics and nutrigenomics. Uretic now contains higher levels of fresh/frozen and dried meats and organs, protein, and fat, and a comprehensive spectrum and higher levels of micronutrients/nutraceuticals including prebiotics, probiotics, enzymes, omega-3s, antioxidants and more. Excess minerals are eliminated, natural sourced, urinary-important methionine are added, and small quantities of fruits and vegetables mimic what may be consumed in the viscera of prey, and contribute important vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and other nutrients.

Review: Seems to be working. - I have 11 cats - seven originally and four acquired last year when I got married. (All are fixed and stay indoors except a few that like to explore our electric netting-fenced in yard. The others have no interest in going outside, but do love a window seat.) Of my original seven, five of them are over 10 years old. (The other two are about six years old, so well into "middle age". And the other four cats that my husband brought are 3-4 years old.) One of my original seven had been having issues with blood in her urine for a few years. The first day I noticed it, we took her to the vet right away who said there were no stones, crystals, or infections, but that her bladder was inflamed from stress. She's an F3 Savannah and very high energy and territorial. So, we already had lots of cat shelves and scratchers. We added more litter boxes and started to keep her separate from the one cat she fought with the most. The blood in the urine never stopped... Fast forward a few years and I noticed that another one of my cats was also peeing blood (the one the first one fights with) and another was straining in the litter box (one who is super chill and doesn't fight with anyone.) I considered stress a possibility because we had moved and acquired four additional cats, so there were some squabbles despite giving them rescue remedy, calm collars, keeping them in separate parts of the house, loving on them extra, even more litter boxes, etc. I happened to see a "My Cat From H*ll" episode (or rather, a clip of an episode) despite having not seen the show in years. The episode was about a cat who fought with another cat in the home and also peed blood. The family's vet had originally told the owners it was an inflamed bladder and stress related. Jaxon Galaxy wasn't accepting that as an answer, so back to a different vet they went. Sure enough, it was bladder stones. The owners declined a multi-thousand dollar surgery (against the advice of Jaxon Galaxy) and went with adjusting her diet. I'm not sure how that turned out for them, but since several of my cats seemed to be having issues (and I didn't have thousands upon thousands of dollars lying around nor did I want to put them through a surgery if it was their food causing issues), it gave me the idea to switch their food. I was previously feeding them Instinct with Raw Boost. So, I wanted something of equal or better quality with a comparable cost. I had read about Wysong before and knew they had a good reputation for being a high quality food as far as dry foods are concerned. I figured I'd give it a try. All 11 cats have been on this food for about two months. They took to it immediately (though I did mix the food for a week or so, gradually.) The amount of spraying has decreased significantly (we're not 100% free of spraying, but it isn't a constant daily thing anymore). I have definitely seen much less blood in their urine. In fact, I can't recall the last time I saw bloody urine (it used to occur almost daily), and the cats no longer cry when using the litter box. I also noticed that the chronic bloating some of my cats were having is gone too. Bloating can be a symptom of bladder stones, so it is possible that these other cats who happened to not pee outside the litter box also had blood in their urine I hadn't noticed. Their urine also doesn't have such a strong smell as it did before. Overall, this seems to be doing my cats good so far. It's a great food for a home with cats of multiple ages. It seems to have brought my slightly under weight cats up to the appropriate weight and my overweight cats down to a healthier size. No one is bloated anymore, and bladder issues seem to be significantly improving. My cats also seem calmer (which makes sense if they were having bladder pain and aren't anymore.)
Review: Cat vet recommended for help with urinary problems - wet it down - I believe this brand has really been effective in helping my cat maintain health. It was initally recommended to me by a cat specialist vet when discussing my male cat's chronic urinary issue of crystals. I mix this kibble with ample water to soak it and a dollop of wet food, then combine them together with what used to be called Uro-eze (ammonium chloride supplement/medication), which changes urinary Ph. Another vet had shared this medication with me in the past for my dog, as an alternative to the gross "prescription diet" urinary health choices. My cat has thrived on this regimen. Lots of water to flush his urinary crystals, added to every meal. He loves the little pieces like treats, too, so they have good taste and texture and size for him. I am thankful to the Wysong manufacturers for their quality ingredients.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: What ingredients, or percentage of ingredients, qualifies a cat food as being uretic?**
A: Good morning,Thank you for your question.Uretic is a higher meat protein diet (naturally acidifies the urine pH), and it has higher amounts of DL-methionine, which is an amino acid that naturally acidifies the urine pH. It also contains cranberry extract. The Wysong urinary diets and the Biotic pH- help control struvite crystals/stones and urinary tract infections by creating a more acidic urine pH. They do not directly dissolve crystals, but the crystals/stones dissolve when the pH drops to a more acidic range. Most customers find that within a few weeks on Wysong products the crystals disappear and the urinary problems subside. Also keep in mind that Uretic is just one diet option that Wysong offers for cats prone to urinary problems. We do not recommend feeding any single diet exclusively, no matter how good it is. It is an error to feed pets only one food meal after meal as this can result in susceptibility to a variety of problems regardless of the merits of the food. If you have any further questions please let me know.Thank you, Wysong

**Q: What does Uretic mean? Can this be used as a regular food for a 5 month old cat?**
A: It's a special formula to lower the urine PH. High PH in urine causes the formation of struvite crystals. Very dangerous for male cats, because they can get urinary obstruction. The condition can only be managed by diet.
My cat had these exact issues. He wouldn't eat any Royal Canin or Hill's prescription, dry or wet (they're both very crappy and corn-based anyway).
Wysong Uretic lowered my cat's urine PH from 8 to 6 within 4 weeks.
It's a great food for cats who have high urine PH.

**Q: Is this as good as Hill's prescription CD?**
A: In my opinion, this dry cat food has worked really well for my cats. They wasted a lot of the Hill's CD. They eat all of this Wysong Dry. I never waste it. One has trouble with struvite crystals and so I keep him on mostly wet food. He had terrible trouble with most dry foods. He would throw them up or didn't like them. My other cat absolutely loves Wysong. Both cats love this product. I have purchased since April of this year I believe. I read all the reviews before purchasing. If you don't want problems with struvite crystals I would suggest you feed your cat mostly wet food. However this Uretic dry has worked for me. They didn't care for the Hill's dry, sorry to say, but they empty the plate with this stuff. I'm going to purchase the really large bag next time I order. I go through these small bags pretty fast. Of course as you know, plenty of fresh water available when giving this food. When the urine is diluted with plenty of fresh water. The less chance of struvite crystals.

**Q: Is this grain free?**
A: Hello,

Uretic does contain brown rice. If you are looking for exclusively grain free products, you may be interested in our Optimal Vitality, Dream Treats, Optimize, and Archetype varieties, which are all also recommended for cats with urinary problems.

We also have a supplement, Biotic pH-, which is designed for cats requiring additional help maintaining a more acidic urine. For cats currently having urinary problems, we would recommend daily supplementation of Biotic pH-. Once the problems are gone, you can cut back on the supplement to 2 or 3 times a week for maintenance, instead of daily supplementation.

We hope you find this information helpful.

Thank you,

Wysong
