Often they were marked as they were made, Kanji symbols were used to indicate a town of origin, a business, or a boat. Some are still in gear sheds and net piles...an unknown number are floating somewhere in the ocean. Boats, heavy-laden with their catch of fish, were lightened by cutting the heavy glass balls off their nets and tossing them into the sea. These beautiful works of art were sturdy laborers – attached to fishing nets, working in rough seas, banging together or against the boat, as the catch was hauled in each day. The whole thing is a fraud; these are clearly not genuine fishing floats.They came out of a factory yesterday. They are identical. Each has a thin black cord around it and a small loop for hanging it -- like a Christmas ornament. And when the balls are assembled in a bowl, the cords are virtually invisible, so all you have is a bunch of blue balls. At least if the cords or twine were a light color as pictured, you'd get an interesting contrast. But not with with these. So, the bottom line is that they are WAY TOO EXPENSIVE for fraudulent merchandise! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Beautiful Floats *by M***Y on Reviewed in the United States on April 22, 2021* These arrived one day early & were very well wrapped. The description says they're used & in good shape. I would describe them as being in "very good" shape. I cut off the netting & washed them thoroughly. Then I displayed them in a big glass bowl combined with some larger size floats.
