He has a plethora of toys, scratch pads and posts, a HUGE cat tree, multiple cardboard boxes to hide in and rip bits off of, and a million other places to hide. No amount of enrichment is enough to keep him satiated; he always goes for the carpet. Placing scratch pads/posts or boxes over the scratched areas does not work as he just shoves them out of the way to regain access to the carpet.But these bad boys? Life. Savers. They’re a bit difficult to get onto my cat’s claws as he just isn’t a fan of having his paws touched, but they fit true to size. He isn’t showing any signs of discomfort, still walks, runs, and climbs as if nothing is even there. He does still dig at the carpet, only now he can’t rip it up; instead he just leaves little streaks across it which can easily be fixed by rubbing my foot over them. The only cons I’ve noticed are the following: 1, the glue applicators are rather messy. This could be a me issue, maybe I’m not putting them on all the way down or I’m trying to squeeze out too much glue at once, but without fail, my hands always wind up covered in glue. I trim the fur around my cats claws before application to keep him from the same sticky fate. The applicators also cannot be reused (or if they can, I haven’t figured it out). This leaves me with loads of extra glue and no applicators. 2, the caps sometimes come off rather easily. I’m hoping this is just poor timing on my end, as in, I’m putting the caps on right before the claws are set to shed. Most of them are still on from the first application (at the time of this review, three days ago), but three have fallen off and have needed to be replaced.Overall solid product. Will continue to purchase. It takes some patience as well as some trial and error, but it’s so worth it in the long run. I don't know how she does it, but every morning there is a piece missing from a rug or there is a hole in the berber on the stairs, or I find tufts of rug fiber in random spots around the house. Also, she chases feet and jumps at your legs and climbs the damn drapes and she's a bit of a terror, if I'm being honest. But I love her almost as much as I love my husband so I am trying all kinds of things to solve this problem.She is not a fan of scratching posts (carpet or sisal) or those cardboard scratching things or any other surface I put in front of her. Only flooring and drapes and human skin will do. We have tried keeping her nails trimmed (something else she dislikes) and that helped only a tiny bit.Then I found these crazy little nail caps. They. Look. Ridiculous. And they work, once you get them on which is about as easy as you might think gluing plastic caps to a kittens' nails might be. Actually the first time was pretty easy. She held mostly still and I only glued two of the caps to my gloves (you must wear close fitting gloves to hold the tips, insert the glue and apply them quickly without the glove getting in your way). Now that she knows how hard they are to remove, she puts up a bit of a fight about it. The really tricky thing is making sure that once you've put the gluey nail cap on, hold it until the glue sets. Because if the cap pops off or is glued to your glove and pulls off when you pull away from the kitty, kitty's fur sticks to her nail and then there is no way to get a fresh cap on over the gluey, hairy nail without hurting kitty.It's been almost three weeks since we applied the first 8 caps and 6 of them are still in place. I replaced one but the other removed tip didn't work: that's how I learned about the hairy, gluey nail thing. If I can get kitty to cooperate, I will continue replacing them as they fall off because it really does help. She hasn't damaged any rug or curtain since the caps went on.Oh, one con: kitty can not beat back our dog the way she used to.
