I was told that ONLY THE MODEL 12 can function as a controller. **Q: Are the side rails made of real wood or are they plastic?** A: What kind of ? is that? A GOOD question, because they look like wood. The end caps are faux wood metal according to sound on sound review (https://www.soundonsound.com/reviews/tascam-model-24). Tascam doesn't describe them, but they should since they went to all the trouble to make them look like wood. **Q: Can it record simultaneously to the sd card and through usb to a computer?** A: Yes. The A/D from the mic/line inputs to the USB is always active. **Q: Does this work with fl studio?** A: FL Studio appears to be a DAW. I am not familiar with this DAW, but the TASCAM models are all excellent audio interfaces (among other things), and they will work with any DAW. TEAC (parent company) and TASCAM have been around longer than most manufacturers of audio electronics, and the equipment has been rock solid and the best interface I have had.
