The cushions are very comfortable and are water resistant, so you can leave them out in a brief shower but get them in overnight and for winter storage. There are ties to hold them in place but I don't use those other than for hanging by in the garage. Mine were commandeered by the cats (along with the chairs and bench they were on) so I needed to get some more for the humans to use. The bench and chairs are comfortable anyway but the cushions make it even better.
