This neck gaiter is made out of a stretchy cotton like material. It is easier to breath than the nylon variety. It is one continuous tube without any seams. I can rotate it so I can breath on a different area of the cloth. The other brand had a seam. I can not rotate the neck gaiter so freely or flip the cloth inside out. Face masks will expire and has to be discarded. I can hand wash or machine wash the neck gaiter at the end of the day and it will be ready to use the next day The best way I use this is to fold the cloth in half to create two layers for better protection. Only 4 stars because its not as thick as you may think it is. The material is just another thin layer of clothing at most and when I say thin I mean thicker than panty hoes but thinner than leggings. We wore out on a night of squidding by the pier which helped but whenever a breeze hit you could def feel the chills. I wouldn't wear this out to the mountains during the winter unless you plan on wearing it as an extra layer beneath a hat and a hoodie which kind of defeats the purpose of it.
