I can only read for 15-20 min a few times a week. A person injured as a child? *by A***R on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on July 23, 2019* Most everyone turned out pretty well in these stories. Most of the stories were about sucesses. Happy endings. And only a couple addressed what happens YEARS after the injury. No stories about someone severely injured as a child- (my daughter was 8 when we were in an auto accident and she is 38 now) especially frontal lobe injury - which is very common and can turn life upside down for the person injured- as well as their families. And they do NOT get better- they may survive the injury and do well in rehabilitation- but they get worse and the things that are wrong- stay wrong. Permanent and severe behavior and emotional problems are the norm for people with injuries like this. In addition- other parents or caregivers of people with TBI who have not wound up going to college - or back to work and who's emotional and behavior problems inpact every aspect of their lives- might have received some comfort - knowing they are not alone. But that did not happen.The authors dropped the ball on this one.
