The maintainer voltage that is part of my APC UPS, is not designed to bring up a battery discharged more than 5% (or deeply) So when I want to do a 100% top off, for longer life, every month, I shut off the UPS, and open the two battery isolation switches, so I don't feedback into the UPS and possibly damage the charger circuitry. Then I charge it at 2 amp (minimum) setting on AGM or gel cell position. When it comes up to recommended charge, I shut charger off and close the switches.
