We gave this to our kiddo at 7 months I think, and he loves it. At 9.5 months now, he shakes it along with music and picks it out of his toy bucket often.Minor flaw: The drum element creates a very dull sound. It doesn't have any resonance or boom to it. I think the covering is probably a little thick for it to be a good drum surface, but that is also making it durable, so there's your trade off. The whole toy is relatively quiet for a percussion instrument. Satisfying enough for little ears and not obnoxious for grownups. Very happy with this purchase.
